The Hunter Valley was the first commercial producing region in Australia with some big name brands calling the Hunter home.
The most famous grape to come out of the region is the Semillon and is recognized as being one of the great wines of the world and the benchmark for all others to aspire to.
The other two big players are Chardonnay and Shiraz. The beautiful countryside entices people from all over the globe and there is a vast array of wineries that have cellar doors to suit all occasions and all palates.
The Hunter Valley is about 2 hours 30 minutes north of the Opera House making it a perfect weekender getaway.
