Tamar Valley in Northern Tasmania is rated “one of the top 10 wine routes in the world” by Essential Travel UK and the township of Launceston is a great place to base yourself. From there you can head out and visit the many cellar doors and sample the great wines.
The Tamar River splits the region in half so head up one side then back down the other for its famous elegant cool climate wine styles like Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and of course their fantastic Sparkling wine reigns supreme. But don’t be surprised to find some other styles that will blow you away.
