Visit A Vinery
Bendigo Bendigo

Many people would know the regional town of Bendigo for its gold mining history, its beautiful grand Victorian buildings, the botanical gardens in the town centre and also being home to the largest Chinese dragon in the southern hemisphere but there is also a wonderful wine industry.

It has been noted that vines have been planted as early as 1855 in the region and by 1862 the Bendigo wine district was the fourth largest in the colony.

Today the region has close to thirty wineries open to the public that produce some cracking wines, with reds dominating, especially Shiraz.

The white wines are well represented with Chardonnay being predominately planted but there is plenty more including apple cider being produced at one winery by the traditional méthode champenoise way, where the second fermentation occurs in the bottle.

Go put your prospecting hat on and discover the wonderful wines of Bendigo.
