Visit A Vinery
Pyrenees Pyrenees

One of the first regions to discover gold, the Pyrenees is like a Phoenix with rows of grape vines have risen from the goldfields.

The Pyrenees encompasses several small towns with some terrific old buildings providing some insight to how much wealth there was in it’s hey day.

Maryborough, would be the largest of these towns and a visit to the railway station with platforms the size of Flinders street station gives you an idea of once how busy this region must have been.

A visit to the historical township of Clunes is worthwhile, as the township has featured in some well-known movies, including Ned Kelly and Mad Max.

The wineries in the Pyrenees are famous for their Sparkling wines, Shiraz, Cabernet and Chardonnay.

Unfortunately food options at most wineries is limited to produce platters but a visit to the Avoca pub is a good place to refuel before heading back out to discover more wonderful cellar doors.
